When my folks told me that they would be staying at the Leaky Tiki Village in Florida on their trip I said "If they you see any tikis take some pictures". These are the pictures from their stay there.

My Dreams of my own Tiki Bar.......Part 1
While swimming laps over at my folks house this weekend my thoughts wandered from counting my laps (in their pool it is 80 laps ((100 lengths)) for a mile) to thinking about how I would fix up and Tiki their backyard if I ever inherit the place (and had the money to do it). I would add palm trees and giant Tikis and a waterfall and little stream feature. Fix the jacuzzi area and add a cool outdoor kitchen. The main thing I would do would be to turn the garage into the Pineappleman's Tiki Bar.
With a mix of inspiration from Trader Sam's (if I was really Bill Gates rich I would have a big fancy house with an ocean view like that at the Montage in Laguna...with a pathway leading down from the main house to my own Private Trader Sam's like Tiki Bar.) Since I'm not Bill Gates---I must come up with a cool scaled back version. (Scaled back more like stripped down---Obviously the Animatronic Tiki Birds from Disneyland will not make it into the Pineappleman's version)
The garage could be turned into The Pineappleman's Tiki Bar pretty easily..... I've seen many pictures of cool home Tiki Bars online at places like Tiki Central. Go here to check them out if you haven't hundreds of times already..

This project will probably be years and years away....so don't expect any cool progress pictures of the bar that is in my mind coming together.....But in the upcoming parts I will share pictures of concepts and inspirations and individual Tiki items that I would like to eventually put into the place......I will continue to collect Tiki mugs and Tiki items that could eventually go in or be displayed in this Oasis.....so stay tuned and I'm open to ideas that I may not have thought of myself. I like the style of Trader Sam's which is style I would try and show homage to especially with my love of Disney being as strong if not stronger than my Love of Tiki...
In part 2 coming in July I will show pictures of the starting point and share my general first thoughts of what I would do and share some links to some stuff that other people have done.

My quest for a Trader Sam's Tiki Mug:
A quest for a Trader Sam's Tiki Mug?? Why not.
After seeing the new Tiki mug which I posted a link about a few weeks ago I've been itching to get out and get one for myself. With Carsland and Buena Vista street at DCA about to open my to do list of Disney things is a vast one. There are going to be so many new Disney things to see in the coming weeks I had to go and get my Tiki fix first. So I journeyed out to Trader Sam's in search of a Tiki mug.
With my quest complete and some amazing Lettuce Wraps in my belly--I sat and relaxed listening to the cool tiki music, watching the volcanoes go off and just staring at the walls of this cool bar. I always see something new everytime I go inside.
I love Trader Sam's. If I had Bill Gates money I would have a Trader Sam's built for my home. The only additions i might make would be to add a few talking Tiki Room birds up in the rafters or to add some more additional Indiana Jones or Pirates items to the walls. (In case you missed it here are a few pictures I took previously of the Indy related items)

Last night while there I noticed 2 Eagles covers being played as part of the soundtrack. I need to get a hold of those songs. The Eagles are far and away my favorite band and these cool Tiki versions are now my Holy Grail. Anyone know where you can get a hold of these songs?

Here are just a few quick pictures from our vantage point this trip (since I've already covered the Bar extensively in previous Tiki and Disney blogs.

Wine with Tikis Santa Barbara or "Not all Tikis drink Rum"
On a recent trip to Santa Barabara and Solvang for some relaxation and Wine Tasting I came across in my research before the trip a little place called Kalyra. A Wine tasting with Tikis......So of course this went straight to the top of my list.
For the full story about the tasting check out the Wine blog that I do with my wife. The 2 Dollar Wine Connoisseur....
In this blog we discuss the tasting itself,
For the Tiki blog I decided to instead just point out a few tikis to you.
There is one......
Here is another one
Hey look over there a Tiki
Apparently Tikis do drink more than rum because this wine tasting place that had an Australian/Tiki/African feel to it was full of the little bastards.
Here were the cool coasters for the place that were similar to the style of their wine bottles
