Tikis of Oahu: The Pineappleman's Oahu Adventure: Tacky Tiki Cuckoo Coconuts

Tacky Tiki Time from Oahu.
The last time I had visited Oahu OJ was being chased in a white Bronco.  Needless to say things had changed.   The International Marketplace so famous from the late 1980's was gone. There are now endless modern upscale shops.  I didn't come to Oahu to see stores I could visit at the Newport Fashion Island so on our trip this summer we searched for some old school Tacky Tiki.

Hidden on a random street a couple blocks in was a tini little Oasis of Tacky Tiki and a shop with Hawaiian shirts.

Cuckoo Coconuts

Our friends had visited this place on their trip earlier in the year so we had to stop and check it out.
It was plastic and cheesy but also a little fun.

You make your way past Giant Plastic Tikis, neon signs and giant Burgers and you will find a little hangout.

Here are some pictures from our visit.

Since we were there I had to get a drink out of a Pineapple...
We just had fries and a couple of drinks.   All were just okay
(what do you expect from a place with a 5 foot tall plastered shrimp at the entrance)

Here is a look at the inside of this little outside hangout. With fake painted backgrounds and everything.

I did like the little trailer/slash bar area.

I'm not sure if the entertainment is always the same , but the night we stopped in it was an odd over auto fixed collections of songs nobody under the age of 60 would even recognize.   If the entertainment had been better we probably would have  stayed and enjoyed this tacky Tiki hideaway a little more.

Tiki Oasis 2016: Monster Island: Rum Tastings Shopping and Art Show

Daytime Tiki Oasis 2016 fun included Rum Tastings, Shopping and the annual Art Show.   Here are a few pictures to what 2016 had to offer.

The Cat's Eye Club....A Fun San Diego Tiki Bar in the Gas Lamp area was serving up some good drinks.

Whoa! That is some strong Stolen Rum

I liked this Rum and the free prizes wheel spin was fun
....even though all I won was a High Five!

Tiki Oasis 2016: A Mystery on Monster Island

When we were invited to a Party on Monster Island.  It was a mystery as to who and why we were invited to this strange place.
But we made it our mission to get to the bottom of it.

We were greeted on friday afternoon with what was referred to as a Sip and Shop.  This event included Free Rum Tastings...which had people lining up to taste the free Rum.

The Rum must have been strong.....
Because the next thing I knew I was seeing King Kong.

There must have been something in those Rum drinks.
Who was behind this madness?

People started turning into Monsters.

Giant Spiders began to appear.

Evil things were happening at the pool.

One minute just a normal guy in a hawaiian shirt. A couple of minutes later he looked like the Creature from the Black Lagoon

This guy must of had a ton of rum.

This Poor Guy ended up drinking a rum that Shrunk his head.

And he wasn't too happy about it

This guy was angling for some fun and the room parties.

This Shark Man was attacking people in one of the rooms.

A Yeti in San Diego???  It must have escaped from the zoo.

Even the bands were transforming into creatures.

We retreated to our rooms but this crazy party just kept getting weirder.

Everytime an elevator would open more Monsters would appear.

Dracula was asking all the people that had sampled the rum to raise their hands.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon was having a blast
As  Googly eyed monsters began to dance.

The next morning I called Scooby Doo and the gang to see if they could help solve this strange mystery.
They split up and began to look for clues.

Velma was searching the car show

While Scooby Doo set a trap for the Monsters on the main stage

Eventually the mystery was solved.
Otto and Baby Doe were unmasked as the ones responsible for this crazy Monster filled weekend.  The rum wore off and everyone turned back into humans.  Apparently their plan was just to let everyone escape from the day to day grind and have a little Retro fun.
