Tacky Tiki Time from Oahu.
The last time I had visited Oahu OJ was being chased in a white Bronco. Needless to say things had changed. The International Marketplace so famous from the late 1980's was gone. There are now endless modern upscale shops. I didn't come to Oahu to see stores I could visit at the Newport Fashion Island so on our trip this summer we searched for some old school Tacky Tiki.
Hidden on a random street a couple blocks in was a tini little Oasis of Tacky Tiki and a shop with Hawaiian shirts.
Cuckoo Coconuts
Our friends had visited this place on their trip earlier in the year so we had to stop and check it out.
It was plastic and cheesy but also a little fun.
You make your way past Giant Plastic Tikis, neon signs and giant Burgers and you will find a little hangout.
Here are some pictures from our visit.
Since we were there I had to get a drink out of a Pineapple...
We just had fries and a couple of drinks. All were just okay
(what do you expect from a place with a 5 foot tall plastered shrimp at the entrance)
Here is a look at the inside of this little outside hangout. With fake painted backgrounds and everything.
I did like the little trailer/slash bar area.
I'm not sure if the entertainment is always the same , but the night we stopped in it was an odd over auto fixed collections of songs nobody under the age of 60 would even recognize. If the entertainment had been better we probably would have stayed and enjoyed this tacky Tiki hideaway a little more.
