Saturday afternoon with all the things on our checklist that we could get to without clones...we prepared for the vendor clear out lawn spot rush.   This year we didn't rush for the front and instead slowly made our way to the back....Aku approved.

Up first the Cheap Leis... Not our favorite of the bands

Acapulco Radio a band from across the Atlantic Ocean---over in that place called Europe.   The music for the evening got more to our liking.

On a different Note:    The Hula Girls  Very Good.   One of my favorite Tiki Oasis bands returned to the main stage and put on an amazing show.

FREE BEER!   We told our friends about this odd idea and they made their way to a room that had FREE BEER.   

The final main stage act for the night we caught from back up on the balcony and they were great as well.

Missing out on the Sunday morning 5K because for the first time in my life I slept through my alarm.......I guess staying up until 3:30 am is not good for a 6:30 5K.  Sorry I missed out

The Worst Things about Tiki Oasis (Don't Let the Title Fool You)  Part 2

Number 4 on the list of the Worst Things About Tiki Oasis   Nobody warns you about the dangers of Tiki Oasis.

There should be clear warning about the wild animals that roam the grounds of the Crowne Plaza during Tiki Oasis...   One year we spotted a Gorilla roaming around the hotel.   This year there was a giant Hawaiian Shirt wearing Bear.    I mean these creatures are wild  and possibly dangerous and should be treated accordingly.  Security really should do something about this.  Someone should call animal control.  A wild Hawaiian shirt wearing bear in a room party could get really dangerous fast.

I need to take a break from the Worst Things about Tiki Oasis list for a few Tiki Oasis to do list items.....

Rum makes you see things that aren't real......Like Mermaids 

I know that Mermaids aren't real and yet for some reason I was able to catch a picture of one on my camera......I think I should report this to that researcher that had that special on the Animal Planet.

Maybe I should report this?  As the Captain of the Submarine Voyage that I used to work on back in the day used to say   

" No..no..no no..forget it.  No one would it anyway.  I think we have been submerged to long.  Stand by to surface."

And surface I shall in order to clear my head for a second before we get the conclusion of the Worst things about Tiki Oasis

The Worst things about Tiki Oasis 2013   (Don’t Let the Title Fool You)

Number 1:  The Weekend goes by way too fast.    It is like a really fun blur (and that isn’t just because of the free Rum tastings and room crawls…. Except maybe Friday night can be blamed on the Fireball shots).    We always go down on Friday afternoon and leave sometime around the middle of Sunday.  

I spend months getting excited that Tiki Oasis is coming and then in the blink of an eye it is over.   

We now go to Tiki Oasis with an entourage of people every year and it just seems like the time flies by and is over way too quickly.

Number 2:  I always feel like I’m missing out on something.   Every year we go to Tiki Oasis and have a blast whether we like the theme for that year or not.  (The best themes were Voodoo Island and Spy theme) By the time Tiki Oasis is over and I start seeing other people’s photos online, I see things that I missed out on.   Cool things that I didn’t see myself.   At the end of Oasis this year all I could think about was how I wish I could have Pineappleman clones.   (This of course lead to an entire tangent for a movie Idea).   I think about 3 or 4 clones would do the trick.  I could send the clones to all the room crawls that I can’t be in at the same time and at the end of the night……I would download all of their memories so I don’t miss out on anything.

Tiki Oasis is such an unusual, wild fun scene.   Probably one of the best people watching locations other than Vegas or Comic Con    So even though I didn’t have the Pineappleman clones running around to experience everything……Here is a glimpse into what I did see this year.

Like I said the first night was a blur.  We watched most of the show from our friend's balcony ---hanging out doing Fireball shots.

We made it over the Sushi Restaurant at some point to eat and check out the latest Tiki Fashions.

We ended up at the Swank Bastards room crawl  (They always put on a great show.....Although we were so far at the back of the room we didn't actually see them this year.....and then we stuck around for the Creepy Creeps....one of my favorite bands from the first year I came down to Tiki Oasis.

The Tiki Sippers are back at Disneyland!! I scored two for Tiki Oasis

I made a special trip out to the parks in order to grab a couple of the great Tiki Sippers that are currently being sold at the Tiki Room.   They originally had these for one day out  the parks for the anniversary, but they were gone almost as quickly.   Now it seems the folks at Disney have plenty of these fun sippers that are perfect for Tiki Oasis
