A Quick stop at Frankie's Tiki Bar in Las Vegas

On the way into Vegas we finally got around to stopping off the strip at Frankie's Tiki Room.....

Frankie's Tiki Room is a dark little Tiki Bar that is worth stopping by and checking out for any Tiki Fan heading to Vegas for the weekend.     

Frankie's features art work from many well known names in the Tiki Community including big contributions by Bamboo Ben.    There are Tikis carved by Crazy Al,  Billy the Crud,  Tiki Bosko and Tiki Ray to name a few.....and Tiki Art by such   Doug Horne,   Big Toe,   SHAG,  Ken Ruzic,  Thor and others ...

The bar itself was very dark inside...We had to wait a few minutes for our eyes to adjust before finding a sit at the bar and enjoying some great Tiki Drinks while listening to great Tiki Music and watching some interesting Retro programing on the bars TV Screens....    The only drawback for us was the smokiness of the place which brought back memories of my Pineappleman  WASH  days of playing in smoky bars and coming home with your clothes all smoky.     Other than that it was a really cool experience that I'm glad I was able to finally mark off my Vegas bucket list.

And we will definitely have to stop by there again for a few more Tiki drinks.

Here is Frankie's Original  Drink menu which you can get with or without a cool Tiki  Mug from  Tiki Farm.    I went with the Thurnston Howl  a great drink with a great Vegas mug that has dice for Eyes.    Next time I go there I'll have to get one of the other great mugs.

Quick and Easy way to make a Tiki Lamp

A quick and easy way to create your own Tiki Lamp at home.

A couple of months ago some friends of ours were moving and getting rid of some of their stuff.  They had a couple of really cool jar lamps that you can put stuff inside.  At the time it was a Christmas party so the lamps at the time were filled with colored Christmas ornaments.  These lamps are a great idea because you can change out  what is inside  of them for the seasons.  You could have Christmas lamps or  Easter  lamps....or in our case  lamps that go with the beach theme of our house.   After we filled the one lamp for our beach themed living room with Shells I suggested we could make a Tiki Lamp for my side of the bedroom.  So we took a Tiki from the hallway and just added a few shells around him and  a Tiki lamp was done.

I cleaned up my side of the Bedroom which is  now very Tiki themed....with Trader Sam mug....Mermaid Glass from Treasure Island....Love Tiki and new home made Tiki Lamp

Here is the lamp with the shells in our beach themed living room.

These lamps or similar lamps  can be found at places like Target,  TJ Max, or Home Goods for around $40-50  dollars.......and you can put in or create any kind of lamp you can dream of.

Once I got an Pinterest....I've been looking for coll sites to follow.  Reg Huber has been a great source for some cool Tiki Related pictures.      I'm mainly using my Tiki Page to highlight pictures I've taken for my Pineappleman Tiki site  (where if you click on the picture it leads to this blog)    Reg goal with his Pinterest  is   " I am collecting anything Tiki, Retro and Geeky.
